According to industry sources, China-based TFT-LCD panel maker, BOE, plans to build its second 8.5G plant in Hefei, China. Currently, BOE has one 8.5G plant in Beijing. The sources said the BOE plans to use half of the 8.5G plant capacity for Oxide TFT and half for TFT LCD.
The sources said that it is likely the government will grant permission for the new BOE 8.5G plant, and after the new 8.5G plant is built, it would help China to surpassed Japan to become the third largest panel-producing country globally.
